keh pentax dump

I just received the following email from Keh. I have no idea what it means for Pentax, but I'm sure that I'll get plenty of theories here.

Looks like a huge amount of K-x and K-r bodies and lens kits in "LN" condition (with not-so-great prices), and more 18-55's and 50-200's than you can shake a stick at! There are a few goodies in there (DA70's and 12-24's), so my guess is that Pentax USA decided to clear out it's stock of discontinued, refurbs and demo units, but the "odds and ends" outside of these aren't much different than what KEH has on most days...

My theory: the new management at Pentax USA is continuing their "housecleaning." Really, this is the time that all the organizational formalities have been taken care of and the survivors are getting to their "additional action items." Someone obviously had "clear out the storage room" on their list!
(Having been through a few "large company" mergers and acquisitions, I know this stage quite well. It's also how I once ended up with a box full of high-end video cards that were headed for recycling!)

This is where the stock that was originally going to go on sale here went.

I can only hope there is a FA*24 still waiting to be listed on the site. I want to get that lens

I looked. Sigh. Days like this I wish I had more of a credit limit than I do and that I hadn't used what I do have as much this past year for cat bills and the like. I'd have bought one of those bodies if I could have. That's a nice price on some of those WR bodies. Can't say I saw much in lenses that I thought was well priced but the K-5's and K-7's I saw were decently priced and tempting. Lots of K-x's for really nice prices too!

I just ordered some oddball pieces of equipment from them. Odd combos too - like a K-r packaged with a 35/2.4. Lots of P&S cameras too.

They do this with other brands quite often (mostly Nikon, I think) -- always "direct from manufacturer". Don't know what's scary about it...

Agreed - Nikon sells their refurbished gear through several sites on a very regular basis (keh, adorama, cameta) as does Olympus (direct and through Cameta). I am that with the ever-changing retail landscape for Pentax they ended up having a fairly large warehouse inventory under Hoya - clearing it out to make way for proper new inventory (or to get rid of a warehouse and ship direct to their online and b&m retailers) doesn't seem strange to me.

I got the same email but unfortunately, I've over spent this month on other things I needed or wanted. Hope they have some things left next month. I buy at KEH most times. I like their warranty and return policy.
