DA* 200mm lens on an MZ-3?

I have just become the happy owner - very happy indeed! - of the DA* 1:2.8 200mm lens and I am tempted to try it out on a 35mm film camera too.

But, the only film camera I have with electrical contacts for aperture control is the MZ-3. And that camera has power zoom with pz-contacts that will meet the DA* SDM contacts.

So, what would happen if I mounted my precious lens on my MZ-3..................???

The screwdrive mechanism will be used for AF, I believe. The camera probably knows that the lens doesn't support power zoom.

EXPLOSIONS! MORE EXPLOSIONS! DEATH WILL RAIN FROM THE SKY!

Alternatively, as Adam said, it won't recognize the lens as a PZ lens, so it'll just screw driven the AF.

Well, explosions and death from the sky may be bad enough, but my main concern is that the MZ-3 has never learned about DA* lenses and SDM circuits. It only knows how to apply a certain voltage and feed a certain current over the PZ-contacts.

So, is there a risk that a (damaging) current could be fed to the lens' SDM circuit from the camera's PZ-circuit? For example by accidentially touching the PZ-contact??
