Ricoh Rikenon P 1:1.7 50mm Lens on a K-5

I just bought a Ricoh Rikenon P 1:1.7 50mm Lens on ebay. Will this lens fit on my K-5 or do I need an adapter? If I need one, which adapter do I need? Thanks.

If its K mount it will fit. Just make sure it doesn't have a Ricoh pin. There are a couple threads on the pin and how to remove it.
Did you read its review section?

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do I know if its a K mount? If it helps I bought it in lot auction and the lens is mounted to an old Pentax K-X 35mm camera. Would it be safe to assume it's a K mount?

Yes, it would be.
I don't know a lot about Ricoh lenses, but be careful with that Ricoh pin (not sure if it applies to this one).

All Ricoh P series lenses have the Ricoh pin. But not all are dangerous...it is probably best to remove it in this case.

Which lens did you get with your camera? That one has a K mount. Now just look at its size and approximate layout.
Other brand cameras have different mounts, some only slightly different, some very different. So if you buy a lens, it has to be "for Pentax"

Ricoh sold its own line of SLRs at the time and all used the K mount. I have owned several and never thought twice about the mount - in fact many old Vivitars I've owned use the KR label instead of PK to show their Ricoh compatibility! And I've used the Rikenon-P 50 f/2 and 1.7 with no issues, as well as the Sears f/1.4 that looked identical to the Rikenon XR. I've had other Rikenons with the pin, but the 50mm had more of a button which is not a problem - still, the surgery brings comfort.

Yeah all "Rikenon P" lenses have the infamous Ricoh pin, I have 3 Rikenon P lenses which have all been de-pinned. I kept the pins in a safe place in case I wanted to some day reinstall the pins to use those lenses on my KR-30SP camera.
