Mine has Nr. 9025728 bought new March 11, 2009 at a Retail Dealer in Switzerland. It had problems with SDM Autofocus. I had it recently repaired for CHF 300.00 (!) at the official Pentax Repair Service in Switzerland. Up to now it seems to function correctly.

My 9013251 was bought in oktober 2008.
It has done more than 15.000 shots.

NO SDM problems so far.

Two other problems though:

- The lens hood is not tightly fixed anymore. The nodges are worn off.
It now falls off by itself.
It is unclear to me if the damage is with the hood, the lens or both.

- Last trip to Uganda, the zoom ring started to feel resistant around 20mm.
It was an extremely dusty environment. After carefully using the zoom for some days the resistance is gone now.

For the rest, the best (versatile, fast, good IQ) lens I have....

SN 9028832 - Purchased in April 2010.

No issues so far with just a few hundred shots.

Love this lens.

After reviewing these SN and looking at some pics of what the lens should look like, I'm concern about the authenticity of my recent purchase of K-x with 2 Kit lens (15-55mm and 50-200mm) from Amazon. Body assembled in Phillipines and both lens assembled in Vietnam. All three has S/N starting in 36xxxxx. All the lens SN I'm seeing here are all in the 9xxxxxx. For both lens, the focus ring does not have the distance scale printed on it and the mounting ring is plastic all around instead of chrome or metal rings like all the pics I've been seeing. Attached is a pic of the 50-200 lens. Is this a valid concern?
