Pentax M 50 mm F1.7 lens rattle

Good day,

If anyone has the Pentax M 50mm F1.7 lens, can you please tell me if you shake it, move it, does it make a sound like something is loose in it (big gaps between the Diaphragm maybe) ?
Mine was accidentally dropped on the carpet and I never heard this sound, or maybe I didn' t pay attention to it (hopefully) .

Thanks for any help!

I have one, but never noticed a noise up to now... will give it a good shake when I come home and report to you. What about yours, does it still "work as expected"?

Good day,

It still works for now as expected, but it is strange in my opinion for it to do this.

Thank you!

The front ring with lens info, and/or the small screw (3 of them) underneath, often loosen with usage--an easy fix if its that.

Good day,

Unfortunately i can not open the for main screws, they are very stuck. And now i' ve lost one of the three screws that fixed the ring on the final part of the lens (that enters in the camera) - great!

Don't remove the mount end it has nothing to do with the screws in question. You unscrew the front ring that has the writing on, it is where you screw the filter on.
Use a rubber cap, just be sure it has a high place in the center so as not to hit the lens glass.
Under that ring you will see the screws. They are for locking the focus ring after adjusting the infinity focus.
This link will show how

Hmmm. Put a finger on the aperture stop down lever before you shake it. You may find that is the cause of the rattle. That's normal. No worries.

Good day,

I press the lever and it still makes a shaking sound (like from inside) . I push the lever down for the diaphragm to be open, then it dims a little bit.

Thank you!

If you hold the aperture lever, there should be no sound heard when shaking the lens. Sounds like a necessary repair job.

Sweep the area with a strong magnet. The rare earth magnets used in headphones or hard drives are great for this.

To expand a little bit, this question comes up a couple of times a year regarding this lens, though the M 50/1.7 is not the only lens I own that has a small rattle.
