Vivitar 90mm macro vs. Tamron 90mm f2.5 macro

I own a Tamron 90mm f2.5 macro 52b with 1:1 adapter and have a great chance of picking up a Vivitar 90mm 2.8 macro. Is it as good or better than the tamron?
I would have to sell one if I did. Which one would you sell?

Both excellent macro lenses, image quality will be almost indistinguishable IMO. However if they are a similar price (taking into account the tamron PKA mount), and assuming the Vivitar has a PKA mount, I would keep the Vivitar as it is 1:1 and the Tamron 1:1 adapter is a terrible pain to attach.

To save myself some time, I assume all dedicated macro lenses are great, so I never had to test them for performance. That assumption means it's OK to decide on features, like the mount, size, magnification, etc. I kept a version of the Tamron (52E) instead of a Panagor 90/2.8, which might have a Vivitar counterpart. It was all about which features worked the best for my use, not performance, which seemed close enough.

There's a coupl'a versions of the Vivitar 90-100mm macros. One uses a front + filter to achieve 1:1 and comes as both PK and PK/A.

The Tamron 52B & BB are both excellent macros with a known tendency to cause a purple reflective flare spot off the sensor if shot directly into a bright light or the sun.

The "1:1 custom adapter" for any of the 1:2 90-100mm macro lenses is nothing more than a +10X diopter filter and any of them will work on any lens with equivalent results. Nothing "custom" about 'em except the engraving on the filter ring and the price. I use one scavenged from the Vivitar 100mm lens with the Tammy 52B (both 49mm thread) with identical results as with the Vivitar and have had both in hand for actual, side-by-side comparison.

IMO, the Tammy is MUCH better built, heavier, more versatile and cost no more if you have the PK or PK/A adapter. Deliberate macro shooting makes the inexpensive PK adapter more than satisfactory.
