Its not only Adorama who have increased the price. Pentax Webstore has same pricing as Adorama. So looks like price increase is by PENTAX

By the time I'm ready to buy the FA 77, it's going to cost over $2000 probably.
Well.. it's not worth that so don't worry about it.

This makes it easy for someone like me who is waiting for Pentax FF to just sell everything and move to Nikon..
I already did that and it looks like I'm doing it again..

My thoughts on this was maybe they're trying to convert the serious side of Pentax to Ricoh branding, and the Kawaii stylings to Pentax. Sort of like Gibson/Epiphone or HP/Compaq.
Epiphone were always their own brand until Gibson decided to use them as their w**re... I have a few Gibsons but that doesn't mean that I don't hate the company.

LOL! What a joke Pentax.

FA 50mm f/1.4 $450 vs Nikon 50mm 1.4D $289 or $439 for the G version (sealed and in body AF)

FA35mm f/2 $600 vs Nikon 35mm f/2D $359 or $196 for the G version (DX and f/1.8)

Pentax are making it easier for people to jump ship

Yes... looks a lot like musical chairs on the Titanic to me. Maybe they forgot to tell Ricoh that they sacked their top lens designers and all that's left is the toilet staff?

Those 2 are particularly glaring considering the FA 50mm clearly competes with the D version based on design/age and the FA35 competes with the G version being an aps-c only lens (since aps-c is all Pentax has).

But for how much longer for Pentax?

I seriously wonder if Pentax has any type of strategy in either real photography or even hobby photography. Short term, maybe - but definitely not long term

Yes, and given my lens lineup at present switching to Nikon and their D7100 is looking more and more appealing.
  • Better flash, and more options.
  • Better AF.
  • Far More lens choices.
  • Far more 3rd party products.
  • Better support.
  • Predictable pricing.
D7100 + Tamron 70-200 would be a superior setup to my current K-5 for sports photography.

Are moves like this simply because Ricoh as zero respect for its current customers? Are we so few that they feel they must clear the decks and start fresh?

Good thing, I have every lens I was planning to buy. This will just make it easier to not buy everything I don't have, and get me more money if I decide to sell a few.

This is insane. I just noticed Adorama raising prices on the Fa's and now the DA 21 as well. How can you have the same stock purchased at last years prices, and then just bump them up like that. I am not happy.
In other news, Zeiss has announced a 32mm F/1.8 lens for $900. This makes the FA 31mm F/1.8 at $1300 look a bit ridiculous.

Not necessarily: the Zeiss lens is for short-register mirrorless.

Is it 900? I saw 1500, and it aps-c only.

Pentax has again announced increases in lens pricing. As I have said elsewhere - Insanity is not a defense in Bankruptcy Court.
FWIW:

The 12-24 is still at $750 on the B&H website. I guess we'll see the new price soon. A comparable lens, the soon-to-be-available Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 (a slower lens), is listed at $850 after rebate.

Ah, that's true. I guess a 31mm lens design is much different for a flange depth that's less than 31mm.
