Tamron 2X Teleconvertor?

I've come across a Tamron Teleconvertor which is for sale. It has in the blurb 2X PZ-AF MC4. I have queried the seller and they assure me that that is what is on the side. I can't seem to find any reference to this model as a 2X, just the 1.4. Does anyone have any knowledge of the Tamron being a 2x? If it is a 1.4X but sold as a 2X I'm in for a bonus as I would prefer the 1.4.

Our comments would be appreciated.

I've been watching for a version off the 2x tc in nikon mount. usually the 2x is actually an mc7 with 7 elements, but I have seen an older mc4 version of the 2x as well. it very well could be an older 2x. if the sling price is around 60-70 it would still be a good find, though the mc7 versions are better corrected optically.

I have a 2x TC Tamron: 2x Pz AF BBAR MC7. I have not posted a review but I am happy to share my limited comments.

The TC AF works with most lenses but not all. Since I bought the TC to increase my focal length reach, I was most interested to use it with mt DA18-250mm and FA*300mm f4.5. In simple words, the AF does no work with the DA18-250mm: it hunts and do not AF, On the other hand, it works fine with the FA300mm and other lenses. I tested the TC therefore with the FA300mm mostly. The IQ is OK, but I can sense a loss of IQ. In bright light, I am generally happy with the outcome. In limited or low light, the AF does not work well and I am not very happy with the IQ. I would prefer to us the FA300mm and crop my photographs.

All in all the 2x TC Tamron was an experiment. It was worth a try, but I rarely use it unless I need to reach over 300mm.

Hope that the experience may help.

Thanks HCC. I was looking at putting it on a 70-250 Pentax or a Sigma 70-200 macro. If it stays at the price it's almost a throw away if it's no good. If I'm out bid no loose.
