Another kit suggestion thread

I am falling in love with my camera and the lenses I have so far, but Iím already planning what my entire kit would be. What I own so far is in bold.

Wide
DA 15mm f/4 Limited
Sigma 10-20mm

Normal
FA 31 f/1.8 Limited
DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited
Pentax-A/M/K 50mm f/1.7

Short tele
DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited/FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited

WR
DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AL WR
DA* 55mm f/1.8

Suggestions for other lenses, or what can be removed is happily received.

Pentax-A/M/K 50mm f/1.7
DA* 55mm f/1.4
DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited/FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited

Those lenses all have pretty much the same use; shallow DOF, portrait range (mild tele). I would choose one of them and leave the rest until your kit is all filled in.

My ideal kit looks like this:
DA 15mm
FA 31mm
DA*55mm
D FA 100mm WR macro
DA*300mm
DA 18-135mm

I only own half of the lenses in my ideal kit, but I have similar substitutes for the rest, along with some extras.

Your ideal has quite a prime gap between 15 and 31, something a 21 or 24mm could fill nicely. I'd also choose 70 or 77 then find an 85 (often huge/heavy since 'they' always make them f/1.4 or f/2) or a macro in the 90-105mm range.

My current set is near my ideal, but I don't doubt a few tweaks will continue:
Primes:
15 fisheye (Sigma)
24 SMC-A
28 Rikenon (M)
40 Ltd
50 SMC-M
70 Ltd
100 macro (Promaster f/3.5)
400 Hanimar (M)
Zooms
17-35 (Tamron) - as fast as the DA21 for half the price
28-90 (Sigma/Quantaray) - light, cheap.. but slow
50-200 DA WR - my WR option, a great copy
70-150 Rikenon (M) - all manual but f/4 throughout

A 15/40/70 Limited kit would give you high IQ and a consistent "look,"
to complement the convenience and WR of the zoom.

I don't need a prime between extra wide and normal. I don't like shooting people with a wide angle lens (big head, small body perspective distortion). I have normals at 28, 35 and 40mm. Most standard zooms are pretty strong at 21-24, especially stopped down for landscapes (I have the 16-45 & 18-135).

Good point Dan, and curious that my post caught you too - I was only looking at the OP list when my post went out
I agree that your 16-45 especially (and my 17-35) would cover the 20-something focal lengths very well, being near the center of the zoom range.

But on APS-C, that's a popular range for street use,
where quality standard zooms are so big
that they attract unwelcome attention.

True, but street was invented with a 50mm lens on a 135 film camera, and some still prefer the standard focal length. It's just a question of style.

That's what I like about a normal lens, it makes the scene look like it did to the naked eye.
