1) At the moment my Sigma 10-20mm, but it may change when I get My DA * 16-50mm back from the repair.

2) I am dreaming of a good quality, fast tele zoom. It might be the Sigma 100-300 f/4, unless the 120-300 f/2.8 show up in K-mount...

I also use my Tamron 18-250 a lot, but I may leave it home more often after I get my dream tele lens.

My current faves are:

Sigma 10-20mm
Sigma 50-500mm aka The Bigma

The bulk of my digital shooting these days is done with these two lenses. A really fine pair of lenses that are supremely usable and provide me with some really nice shots. The only thing I can fault them for is that they are a touch on the cool side with the image rendition. Other than that I don't have any major gripes.

I usually shoot handheld with that lens but often take my tripod (Manfrotto 055 ProB) or monopod (also Manfrotto 679) as it gets heavy just standing around with it. Ideally i'd like to get a gimbal head for it as well to round off a superb setup.

My dream lens would be the newer even bigger Bigma.
I seem to recall hearing about an f/2.8 version of it. IRC it was f/2.8 continuous ! I think with one of those babies, all my problems of shooting the local shipping in low light would be over. But probably the start of my back problems. Would have to start saving for trips to the chiropracter.

Photocite: Move over Bigma, there's a Monster coming.

Oh and the 500-1000mm one mentioned would be really nice to have as well. Mucho bucks tho $$$$$$

1. 31mm Limited followed closely by the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 (only because it's so sharp and versatile)
2. 85mm f1.4 (either A or FA, I don't really care)

Help me decide my dream lens!

For me, it's all about speed & narrow DoF in a variety of lengths. Hence:

1) Tokina AT-X Pro 80-200 (dying to put it to use shooting in South American rainforest in a month--woohoo!)

2) While I could dream about longer fast lenses (120-300 f/2.8 in K), or faster long lenses (135 f/1.8?), I'm now trying to decide on how much to shell out for a dream wider lens, either to replace my kit or a wide prime to supplement my FA 50/1.4 if I can train myself back into primes. (SEE MY WTB!) Some thoughts:

I started with primes in my hand-me-down Olympus OM days, so I can appreciate their quality and I know how to find ways to compose with them, but the convenience of zooms and the closing quality gap in quality compared to primes makes them so tempting. Especially when the vast majority of my photography is travel stuff. Do I want:

-a DA*16-50? That weather protection in the rainforest sounds pretty smart...

-but perhaps I should focus on an attainable alternative: maybe a Sigma 18-50 EX DC? People seem keen on the Tamron 17-50 coming out in Pentax (probably too late for my upcoming trip)

-Or can I train myself to use primes again, in which case, to fill the gap between the DA 10-17 Fisheye and my FA 50, do I want:

-31 ltd? (I like the sound of f/1.8 as well as the stellar optics)

-Or maybe if I could find one, an FA* 24 f/2 is a better complement for the 50? (For half a day Henrys had a used FA* 24 f/2, now I'm kicking myself for hesitating...)

-Again, a more affordable alternative to actually go for sounds like a Sigma 20 or 24 f/1.8? The DA 21 f/3.2 doesn't go wide enough for my craving for fast lenses...

Oh, so many lenses, so little cash...

1] Tamron 28-75 [damn sharp for the $$'s] though may have gone with Sigma 17-70 after some of the reviews. The 28-75 is not to bad with Macro work either.

2] 50-500mm Bigma. Will have by summer since it seems I may need a fair amount of good light!

Too many dreams with one too many wives!!! [though I understand I just have to mention "It was on sale"] Seems to work for her! JIMBO

1. It's almost a tie between the DA*16-50 and 50-135. Probably the 16-50 as I've gotten better images from it so far.

2. I'd love a DA*100-400mm f/4!

Two questions:

1) What is your favorite lens? (This refers to your favorite out of all the pentax-compatible lenses you already own)
2) What is your dream lens? (This refers to the lens you want the most out of all the lenses that you do not own yet... of course the lens has to be one that actually exists and can be used with a pentax body. hehe.)

I was a bit surprised not to see a topic like this on this forum yet. I might have not searched it right (although i already searched "dream" and "favorite" but nothing came up). In any case, here's the topic. I hope a lot of you reply
My current favourite walk about lens is the DA* 16-50/2.8. It covers good scenics and works great indoors. With DxO installed on my computer, it even has no CA, PF or distortion . OTOH - the 50-135 is absolutely marvellous and DxO covers it as well ....

My dream lens is the FA* 600 f/4. I love bird shots, and a 400/5.6 M series with 1.4X converter just isn't the same thing. two stops slower, and I don't know how many levels of resolution lower.

1. Fa 31 ltd - mine is silver and I love it every time I use it.

2. Dream lens would have to be Da* 55mm f1.4 (well, I love this focal length and if it is silent and autofocusing really fast, this would have to be my new favorite lens for sure)

1. FA31 or 85, depends on when and what I'm using them for

2. Probably the FA*300/2.8. But not right now. Can't carry that kind of load plus baby stuff at the moment. When the babies can take care of themselves, I'd get that one (then I need to get a bigger dry cabinet too) ...
