I meant aps-c, not AF-c duh.

Step down ring is 49-28 mm. I used generic ebay type.

I'm more concerned about the cap that's displayed on the picture. What's that? I could see myself using that setup instead of the large hood, but I wouldn't enjoy removing the step ring each time I want to put on the cap.

It is a 28mm clip on cap like this: 2 x 28mm Snap on Front Camera Lens Cap for Canon Nikon Sony Pentax Lens New C033 | eBay

The other option is to get a 51mm plastic push on cap like the ones lttledrawe is selling which would go over the whole step-down ring itself.
I think he doesn't have any Pentax branded ones left any more though (I bought a few )

I have the same setup Larry is talking about with the step down ring and the 28mm caps - works on both my D FA 100 WR and D FA 50 lenses.

I've found that the step down ring alone provides a lot of protection without the little cap, so I leave it off most of the time - only have it installed when it is sitting idle on my lens shelf.
