What are you doing CRK - Australia?

First they bump up all the prices of the FA Limiteds, now the DA 21 Limited has gone from $448 to $599 (it's not worth this price point). It's like they just randomly increase prices willy nilly. Don't be greedy mate!

They probably do what many other stores down the line do. If they get a deal importing a batch at a good price they apply their margins and sell at the "cheaper" price. When that stock is gone and they want to order more then it goes up to the current price deal they can get it for plus the same margin applied.

For the DA21 last year the cheapest local retail store price i could find was $645.
B&H was something like 520 ish? (now its 647 US)

CRK Kennedy's ebay store "dcxpert" has is for $525.

Or you could buy one from the marketplace here. 400 - ish (Edit: Oo a bit more than that now it seems )

I have to admit I was a bit peeved about the FA limiteds going up as I hard one in the cart at the time.

I'm a tad peeved as I was tossing up with buying the DA21 for a while, but with the latest price increase, I'll just buy a Ricoh GR instead.

pentax Australia is as you have pointed out CRK. I suppose they were told to step in line by Japan. CRK being the Australian distributor would have to tow the line.

I was lucky as the Pentax forum made me panic and I purchased and received my 31mm and 77 Ltd a couple of weeks ago from Penax Aus. I was shocked to see how much they went up when I looked today. I would be paying an extra $500 or $600 now.

It would be nice if the really told us what their plans were. If you are into buying Ltds you are making a big investment. We really need to know where we sit

I should have realized this would be happening and bought both the 77 and 31. only went for the 77 as I thought the prices wouldn't change so fast. What a bummer. No how can I complete the trio?

I was eying off a FA43 when the price went up. Grrrrrr.... Significant second thoughts now. Kennedy are clearly tracking US prices with their on-line pricing. Don't think it has anything to do with batches of stock.

My thoughts as well, thus the reason for the frustration, here I thought CRK were finally given us Aussies a good deal after being screwed for so long...knew it was too good to last.

"dcxpert" (CRK), still have a black 77 at the cheap price on ebay Australia. I picked up a silver one for the same price yesterday.

probably a result of the ailing American dollar.
Now it's back to more than AUD$1.00 in value.
But that's beside the point now - the price hike is global.

If the modus operandi here is the same as elsewhere, it seems that the wise purchaser will simply bide their time and wait for special offers. Fortunately, I don't have to, as I already have the three FA Limiteds (only one bought secondhand, but like new, from a Forum member).

The price of the 31mm has been bopping up and down at the Aussie store for a while now (even before the US hike). This communicates to the customer that they are heavily overpaying most of the time.

That's not just frustrating but also stupid. If the prices were kept high one could at least kid oneself they had something to do with the production cost of the lens. Thanks to the idiotic price policies we know that sometimes dealers earn money and sometimes they earn insane money.

Here is a DA21 for more again ($695). Makes CRK look a bit reasonable, I suppose.

Knowing that it used to be $448, I definitely won't be buying it at the $599 price, a price rise of 33% is unjustifiable and definitely can't be blamed on slight currency fluctuations. Pretty poor form I say.
