Recommendation on a M 35mm 2.8?

I have been reading that a 35m 2.8 is the best all around normal eye lens you can get. is there one out there I should be looking for on ebay or what not you think would be a great add-on to a lens collection.

I use a K-01 and a 200d as my secondary.

I have a 55mm 1.4 already
200d kit lens
40mm 2.8 XS (from K-01 kit)
manual 70-200 zoom lens. 3.5-x

Thanks for any advice. I was even thinking that going under 35mm would be a good next lens to buy. Any thoughts comments insults are appreciated!

The M 35/2.8 is not as well liked as the K 35/3.5 which is probably why is sells for half as much. I would look for the M 35/2 or A 35/2.8 instead.

I don't know what the M35/2.8 sells for, but the DA 35/2.4 has to be considered, especially if you'll use this as a normal prime. If a used DA 35/2.4 is say $150, what would be a slower, older, less compatible, not optically exciting lens be worth?

That's pretty close to your 40xs, so I'd agree that you might want to go a little wider.

The DAL 35 f/2.4 is probably your best bet, unless you want to spend on the much better quality DA 35mm ltd or you prefer an old all-manual lens such as a K or M series.

Have a look at the lens reviews here, but I understand the M 35mm f/2.8 is often described as mediocre and either if the AF lenses mentioned above might serve you better. It's also fairly rare.

Having said all that, 35mm is not very different from the 40mm you already have - are you sure you need a 35?

But to go for better than 2.8 could mean a lot of money.
Actually there is an eBay auction due tomorrow where a K2.0/28 is already (in $) at more than $300 with near to 30 bidders.
And the K2/28 is nearly as big as todays tele primes.

I would suggest the A 2.8/28. I own it, and I can't complain.
But I also can't complain about my (M42) Pentacon 3.5/30. It is as sharp (but no multicoating), and it cost me near to nothing.

EDIT: For those who don't know: the Pentacon 3.5/30 is the former Meyer-Görlitz Lydith 3.5/30. It was just renamed.
