Pentax DA 18-250mm lens hood substitution

Does anyone know if the Tamron 18-250mm Di-II lens hood would work as a substitute / replacement for the Pentax DA 18-250mm lens hood? Would the Tamron lens hood fit the Pentax lens?

The Tamron RHAFA018 hood is 1/3 the cost of the Pentax PH-RBB62 hood. For a $30 savings, I can do without the Pentax nomenclature if the Tamron hood would fit.

Thanks for any suggestions!

From what I gather, it works as a replacement. Must just not have the little insert for CPLs.

Edit: Disregard the cutout. The lens was entirely a rebadge from Tamron, the hood should most likely fit.(Neither version has the insert anyhow)

I have both lenses. I will check them as soon as I get home. As I recall, there are not interchangable.

Please stay put. I will post it tonight or tomorrow.

I have a Pentax da 18-250. I am using the Tamron da18 lens hood that was meant for the tamron 18-250. it fits PERFECTLY. I can provide photographic evidence if necessary.

enjoy.

Thank you for all of the replies.

I found that this question was asked earlier in an older thread, with the result saying that the attachment was different. However, I trust EarlVonTapia's reply since he actually has the DA18. I'll be placing an order with B&H soon.

Also, just for note, the Tamron lens hood from a 18-200mm lens does not fit on the Pentax DA 18-250mm lens.

The Tamron 18-250 hood fits the Pentax one. I have both and the hoods are interchangeable.

I will post some pics later.

The hood for the Tamron 18-200 does not fit. I also had one of those.

I got my DA 18-250 without the hood. Luckily I found the Tamron hood for $2 at a recent camera gear swap.

Enjoy tomwil.

Thank you, EarlVonTapia and jjdgti, for the verification.

I ordered 2 of the Tamron hoods from B&H, but they are out of stock, and hopefully they come in soon. Seems to be a popular item. I'll be patient.

Sure wish I found the bargain that EarlVonTapia got!

Thanks again!

Just got word that B&H now has these in stock (after 3 months) and has shipped my order.

Gotta give B&H a lot of credit. They kept me informed of the backorder status, and didn't cancel the order even after 3 months.

Can't wait to try these out. Thanks again, EarlVonTapia and jjdgti!

No problem!

It might seem tight at first, but as you remove it over and over again the teeth will file down naturally, giving it a snug, secure, and natural fit.

Received my order from B&H, and the Tamron DA18 hoods work perfectly on the Pentax DA 18-250mm.

I appreciated B&H's use of a well-packed box, rather than Adorama's use of envelopes. Thanks again, everyone!
