Yeah, I can see; that 85 makes a great portrait lens.

Thanks again.

Mike

Geez, didn't anyone read my earlier post about any the Pentax 85's?

There are 2 simple rules to remember if you own one. Here they are:

1. Don't ever sell it.

2. Remember rule #1.

Since January I've bought all the lenses in my signature. Is this the beginning of LBA?

I have had a change in Signature now ... it has been data-filled now.

New Sigma lens ... new Sigma flash ... Tamron Teleconverter on the way.
I think i need a new bag to stow all my stuff away neatly.

Sure. Buy the Pentax 12-24 instead. It's a much better lens, and you can always back up enough to get the rest of the scene in ...
It's this "back up far enough" bit, while clinging to a path in the Canadian Rockies, that has me just a bit unsettled. But, after all, it's only 2 mm !!!

Well, I got the 12-24 because I couldn't back up far enough with my 16-50. Here's a snap of one place we went that posed a severe backing up space problem. Spineback Trail, Island Lake Lodge, Fernie, BC (about 20 miles/30 km West from here).

I still haven't gotten the macro teleconverter yet, so I can't say for sure on that one yet until I try it. It's been a week since I won the auction on Fleabay and no teleconverter; I emailed the seller to find out when I might expect to be getting it.

Heather
Hey, are you the Heather that's addicted to books? I'm the guy from eBay who likes the red planet and is also waiting for that damn macro TC.

Small world, huh? But we should be getting it this week!

I own an 85 f/2, and, let me tell, you, its..... Horrible. Can't do anything with it. You don't want it, it's terrible. (there, that make you feel better?

Actually, I'm lying. It's probably my 3rd favorite lens of all time.

Anyway, you should really consider the 200mm f/4's on the first page - $69 for a n "E" rating. I sold a mint one last month, and I kinda regret it now...

Here, look at these images and then go to Adorama, drop $69 for the M200 f4, and that will satisfy your LBA for the month, and you'll get out cheaply:

Well, you got me sold. Those are really great shots. The $69 lens is on its way to my house.

With any luck, it will get here before my new Jupiter-9 (drop-shipped from the factory in Russia) that I ordered almost a month ago. The J-9 must be coming via troika!

The pair (along with my existing Tamron 70-150mm Adaptall-2) will have to satisfy my telephoto needs until I am rich enough to buy the new Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8.

I should have read this before succumbing to March madness. LBA got the better of me and I think I spent more on lenses in March than my entire purchases to date.

I spent a bit over $2k on Voigtlander 180mm F4, Pentax 43 ltd., Sigma 100-300 F4 and the sigma 1.4 TC.

I currently have the Tamron 18-250 and the sigma 10-20 for my K10D. This whole set-up cost me less than I spent this month, sheesh!

I just got the Jupiter 85mm f/2 today, but it was a gift, so I guess it doesn't count?

It's a weird lens, but I think I'm going to like it.

I have decided to sell off all of my Pentax equipment and glass to switch to the four thirds camp.

No maybe I should go to the Nikon camp, no wait I am having a panic attack, I must go to the Canon camp.

After 30 plus years of exclusively having the Pentax LBA my physician has advised to go back to my Barbie camera and just live with it.

I've tried to be good but . . bought a Sigma 24-70 F2.8 EX DG this month. As soon as I did I realised a couple of filters would be good and then decided on a new tripod (5 now) Bogen 055XPROB with the 3275 Geared Head to try for more accuracy with the rather weighty Bigma/K10D combo.

Gotta be good now . . .gotta be good now. Wife raising eyebrows again. Wall needs painting, drive needs fixing, garden needs replanting (she says) but there's only so much money to go round and DAMN IT - LBA is such good fun Biding my time - DA*50-135 is next, or is that the Sigma 70-200HSM or maybe the Sigma 50-150HSM - too many choices.
