Antique store find, how did i do?

Found this in a antique store locally. Mamiya/ sekor auto 135mm 2.8 m42 lens. I haven't found a whole lot of info on this lens. Who has one? I talked the guy down to 25$, but I have absolutely no idea if I made out ok. For the 25$ I will usually roll the dice especially for a lens with this build quality. I took a few pictures with it yesterday but haven't gotten to crazy with it yet. i'm not real crazy about the focal length, but may eventually try it on film for portraits if I can get my spotmatic to work properly. I need a lens cap too does anyone know the filter diameter? Sorry, there's a bit of rambling here. Thanks!

I think you made out fine. I have no first had experience with that lens but for $25, I would have grabbed it. I don't use the size often myself but I have 2 135's.They were very inexpensive so I bought them.

Looks like that's a good find. It doesn't seem to be an especially valuable lens, but $25 is a good price. Here is a page I found with some technical details about this lens. The filter diameter is 55mm, so a lens cap shouldn't be hard to find. I have a Soviet lens with a 66mm thread. I've given up on finding a cap for it.

a 135 is a pretty simple lens to make, and there are a lot out there.

Personally i only have 5 or 6 135's

The most expensive one i have is the K mount 135/2.5. My others all are in the range of $25-50, and these include an s.m.c tak 135/3.5, an M135/3.5, a tele lentar 135/2.8 preset. and a rkienon 135/2.8 M42 mount.

they are all good, in terms of sharpness, the older the lens the more of a hood you will need, and beware, some lenses have shiny interior parts that cause reflections off the sensor (the rikenon did this).

The rikenon also has an odd color shift and at any aperture has 1 stop slower performance, I suspect due to the interior losses in the lens.

Thanks for the replies. This is my second of the 135mm. The other is an albinar. I think i have four 50's now. I really want to buy a k5 or a fa 43 soon. I think i may be in trouble as far as my addiction to photagraphy and equipment. God help us all

Hey, these cheap lenses aren't too bad. You can buy lots without it hurting too bad, but they only make you want more. I'm doing pretty good with my LBA. Only bought one lens in the past three months. Problem is, it was a $600 lens...

Not bad Lowell, but you are missing a K135/3.5 from the collection assuming you want to fill out the historical series.

Actually no.

I already have something like 55 lenses, scattered through tak presets, super tak, SMC tak, K, M, and a few A lenses plus newer sigma and tamron AF and some third party M42 and K mount legacy lenses.

If I see something like a K200/2.5 I might get it, but other than that, unless it is super cheap I won't buy just to have
