Buy New Lenses Just because you have an adapter?

I have a SMC Takumar 200mm f4 that I rarely use, partly because it is an odd focal length for me...
but another reason is that it is the only m42 lens I have right now so i have to mess with the adaptor if I want to switch back and forth between this m42 lens and a k-mount lens.
I have a SMC Tak 135 f3.5, but that one i glued a cheapie adapter to, so it is in essence a k-mount lens now.

So my question, have you ever bought a lens just because you have an adaptor that you are under utilizing?
It seems like the height of lens buying for the sake of lens buying lol.

Though I have bought a body because I had a lens.

Why don't you just leave the adapter screwed to the lens? then you can use it like any other lens, can't you?

I tried to avoid the T4/TX or Adaptall systems just because I knew one lens would lead to many lenses. Once you get familiar with the systems, the misidentified lenses or lenses with adapters for dead mounts start to appear, then you're doomed.

Depends, will you use the lens? How much of an impact does it have on your budget? If you buy an Industar 50-2 for $25, then its not a big deal. Costs less than the official Pentax adapter, and its an interesting lens.
But I know what you mean. I tend to not use my adapter and m42 lenses because all my m42 lenses are a similar focal length and for some reason I hate to mount/unmount the adapter. So instead I just carry a couple K-mount primes.

Actually, I have quite a few M42 lenses that don't get a lot of use. However, the IQ of all of them is excellent and my total investment in all of them wouldn't pay for an evening out with my wife at a quality restaurant. Most came from garage sales with a grab bag full of cameras and lenses for $10. My Super Tak 200/4 is my most expensive one at $50.

I picked up an Adaptall PKA mount for $10 cause I knew it was worth something (even though I had no Adaptall lenses). Now I have about $2000 worth of 'em...

That's pretty much what I always do. I don't always glue it on. Sometimes I just mount it in a vise and twist 20% harder than I ever would in actual use, then it's stuck-enough without being permanently stuck.

I bought an M42 to K mount converter after getting a cheap Takumar 55mm 1.8 a few months back. I've had enough fun with that lens to encourage me to look for other M42 lenses. On the weekend I picked up an inexpensive bundle including a Super Takumar 28mm F3.5, a Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 and a Takumar 300mm F4. They are all in really good shape with caps and hard cases. Yesterday I used my single M42/PK converter on each with either my K-5 or K-01. The 300 is really big & heavy and thankfully has a tripod collar. Have ordered 3 more converters so that each lens can have its own converter permanantly fitted. All this good quality gear was a fraction of the cost of a single new auto focus lens. Can't wait till I get more time to experiment with the various combinations. Further down the road I'm sure I'll buy a DA 15 or another good quality auto focus lens but now I'll have more time to save for it while having fun with these.

Does it count buying adapters that I still haven't been able to figure out what lenses they were made for?
