Looks like a camera a Storm Trooper would use!

Google enlightened me with the Storm Trooper thingy, guess I wasn't a fan of Star Wars after all. Well I know them, didn't know what they were called though, until now. This is a heavy-weight super-villain.

Any idea when the review will be out Adam, Id be very interested (like others) to see how this stacks up against the FA31 and the DA35

No ETA at this time, though I can tell you that they are neck-and-neck as far as sharpness goes. The 35mm 1.4 really shines for portrait work thanks to its nice bokeh

How about this 35mm against the 18-35? Which you reckon would be a better buy?

I've seen portrait shots with the sigma on the Mark d III and they looked amazing....though that is full frame and a different camera

Any initial thoughts on how landscape compares with the FA31 and Sigma 35mm?

My guess is for versatility, the 18-35 is better choice. But obviously if you need f/1.4, then the 35mm is the one. The 35mm is also FF compatible and a little shorter in size and a bit lighter too than the zoom.

By the way, see this thread to get a refurbished 35mm for $679 from the Sigma Outlet Store; a considerable savings over the regular asking price of $900. You lose several years of warranty coverage (90 days versus 4 years) though.

My main complaint about the Sigma 35MM would be the size. Granted I haven't used one yet but just from reading about it.

Right now im really considering that and a used FA31mm .

You would probably be better off with a used FA 31mm if you're worried about size/weight. And definitely forget the 18-35 which is even bigger than the 35mm.

I'd be willing to put up with it if the image quality was that much ahead of the FA31. I was looking at lens on a full frame canon and I love the look. Granted its on a $3000+ camera Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Lens : Wide Angle Prime
