Lens Upgrade Options

Hi everyone,

I have been following the forums for a while and joined to ask for your opinion on upgrading my current set-up. I have been shooting with my current gear for about a year:

Body:
Pentax K-7

Lenses:
Zooms
DA* 16-50 f2.8
DA 50-200 WR
DA 50-200 (Non WR)
Primes
FA 50 1.4
Zeiss Distagon 28mm F2.8

I am thinking of selling the Zeiss (doesn't get used as much due to the 16-50) and the DA 50-200 WR. I plan on purchasing a K-30, a Sigma 8-16 and a DA* 50-135 so that my set up would look like this:

Body:
Pentax K30

Lenses:
Zooms
Sigma 8-16
DA* 16-50 f2.8
DA* 50-135 f2.8
DA 50-200 (Non WR)
Primes
FA 50 1.4

The reasons for the changes are that I want a wide angle (non fish eye lens) and to get a better portrait lens option (50-135).

What are your thoughts on the changes? Any alternatives/recommendations for changing the body/wide angle lens/upgrading the telephoto lens?

Thanks

You appear to greatly favor zooms and that seems to be the main factor driving your decision-making. That aside, and I'm not sure how literally to take your comment about wanting a better portrait lens, but if I was really thinking in terms of portraiture, I would rather have a faster prime (both for low-light portraits, and for the shallower depth of field), notably the 77mm f/1.8 Limited.

my only advice is sell the 55-200 non WR and keep the WR one to have a full WR kit from 16 to 200.

i quite agree with Patrick about the prime. Think of the Samyang 85/1.4 for 200$ in second hand market if you wanna give a try.

Maybe get something like the 60-250 instead of the telezooms, if you can handle the size.

I wish I could afford to make you an offer on the Zeiss.
