Wow, produced for one year only, 1976. That's pretty fast for a zoom that old. Maybe it was too expensive to make?

It is easy to overlook the zooms, you're better off not bothering with vintage zooms with very few exceptions, this possibly being one of them.

Nice kit, though I have to admit that I find the zoom to be the least exciting glass in the lot. I must say, though, that there are several enthusiastic reviews on this site and the going price seems to be pretty high.

Nice catch.
Not sure if the zoom is 'once in a life time', but I got it long time ago. It's one of the better zooms, but also big and heavy.
I am ok with kit zooms...

I looked at the list and thought the rarest and most valuable is the K24, but it's hardly a once-in-a-lifetime lens.

The K zoom won't be f/3.5 at the long end. Older zooms don't state their maximum aperture at the long end, only at the short end, but it won't be constant f/3.5.

A good haul without doubt, and at a good price. That MX looks very nice.

For those saying the zoom is not rare ,, can you find one for sale on eBay or pentax forum or what so ever ???

It is rare indeed, and you got it for a nice price.
Just because it is rare, does not justify for an average price of 600usd.
Glad 'm got my copy early.

It should not be confused with the more common 85-210 f4.5 that is dirt cheap.
I was not aware that there was a f3.5 version.

The "Once in a lifetime” comes from Bojidar Dimitrov’s Pentax K-Mount web site:

K 85-210/3.5

I’ve seen a couple K85-210/3.5 zooms being sold over the paste few years, so I’m not sure about the “Once in a lifetime”. Maybe once a year, however to get the lens, caps, case, hood & close-up attachment together would be more like “Once in a lifetime”.
