Hmm...What's a good lens for fashion photography?

Hi....

I have a Pentax k10D w/ Kit lens. I want to invest in a new lens, but I want to hear what you pentax guru's know about what lenses are best for fashion shoots. Thanks

Try looking at the shots posted by Benjikan on various threads. His latest post in the lens forum is under a thread about returning his second DA* 16-50, and shows a shot taken with his DA 16-45.

I would highly recommend the Pentax 16-45 f4.0 lens. Sharp even wide open. Even better stopped down 1 or 2 f's.

Another lens that is brutally sharp is the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 lens, if you get a good copy. One of the sharpest zoom lenses on the market. A bit long for my style however.

As to which lenses are good for fashion. There is no such animal. It depends on what and where you are shooting. I often shoot in cramped quarters and love ultra wide lenses, thus my use of the Pentax 12-24 as well. Perhaps a nice combination would be the Pentax 12-24 and the Tamron 28-75. Shooting Ultra Wide takes some practice though.

Good Luck.

Ben

Sample shot with the Pentax 12-24 f4.0 lens.
