Sigma 70 - 200mm f2.8 EX APO vs 50-150mm autofocus

Does the 50-150mm autofocus perform as well as the 70 -200mm as far as autofocus?
The 70 -200mm rocks but I am finding it a bit to long for indoor sports
Any opinions welcome!

Thanks

Randy

Slip,
I don't have any experience with the 70-200, but I do shoot indoor sports with the 50-150 on the k-5 and have no complaints. I was actually looking to buy the 70-200 when the deal on the 50-150 popped up a couple months back. The size alone is a big plus in my opinion. Too bad the deal no longer exists @ 499 it was impossible to pass up. I'm curious to see what others have to say.

Hi Slip,
I'm wondering what conclusion you came to with the two lenses.
I'm in a position to get the 70-200 and 50-150mm for the same price, and I'm stuck on which one to get.
The wider 50 is helpful but what do you think?

I haven't got any responses to my question but if the sigma was 50-200 instead of 70-200 it would be the best all around lens. if you are shooting indoors I rarely need the 200mm end of it.
if they both had the same speed auto focus I would likely get the 50-150

not much help but hope it gives you a bit of direction

what version of the 70-200 are you looking at specifically?

to my knowledge there are about 6 different ones, starting wiith the APO 70-200F2.8 EX followed by the EX DG, the EX DG Macro, at least 2 versions of EX DG HSM and 2 versions of EX DG HSM OS,

if you are looking at the original 70-200/2.8 EX or EX DG, it is by far the sharpest except for the latest HSM OS II lens which also gets great reviews. but it is screw drive,

Sorry can't help, but I see you have a DA50-135 f2,8, so I presume the AF on that is not fast enough? I don't do indoor sports, but outdoor (lots of sunshine) at the same sort of distances, and use 2 cameras, one with a DA16-45 and the other with my 55-300, but mostly between 150 and 200mm. Seeing that you also have a 17-70mm, I'd think of going the two body way, one with the 70-200 and the other with te 17-70...

EDIT: The K-30 should do the job, and with recent announcements, the price should be very good shortly..
