Da 50-135 + af 1.7

Hi anyone use the Da50-135 + Pentax AF 1.7 TC,thinking this will give me 229 tele when I need it,and not have to deal with the weight of the 70-200 Sigma or Tamrons..have DA 300 so then I have most of the tele range covered..really caught between which one to buy..price is the same about, and think the weight of the 70-200 will limit how much I carry it around,as the 300 is heavy enough
Thanks again

TBH I'd just got for a 70-200mm, as the AF will be faster and the IQ will be better. It's only 400g heavier

TC with a 50-135 are not a good mix. Very poor AF performance and degradation in IQ, much worse than just using a 55-300.

Never tried TC on my 50-135 but IMO Tamron 70-200mm will give you the best IQ among all. However, you are right, I have rarely used mine due to the weight.

It is true that the 70-200mm are heavy. I recently bought one Sigma 70-200 F2.8 HSM II, and I carry it everywhere, and I feel it. But is a verry good lens, and F2.8 makes all the difference. I thought that I wiil never be able to shut stars with my camera hand held, but with this Sigma, and K-5 with vertical grip, I did it. Of course. it's not a perfect picture, but I've did it without my 90 pounds telescop mount, and even without a photo tripod, in a moment when I had the opportunity.

I tried to upload two picture, to ilustrate this, in the user gallery, but is the first time I'm doing this and I fall.

It's not the new, but the old, nonstabilised, lens. And almost 1,4kg:
