FA lenses don't quick shift focus?

This was hinted to in another post, but I wanted to clarify. For the FA lenses, you can't quick shift focus? So in order to do manual you have to switch on the body?

You're quite correct, FA and earlier lenses have no quick-shift, only DA lenses have that feature.

With the exception that the DA18-250mm does not (most likely because it is a rebadged Tamron)

FA* lenses come close

FA* lenses, however, shifts between manual and autofocus by pulling/pushing the focus ring back and forth. Not quite quick-shift, but close enough and more convenient than fumbling with the switch on the camera.

You can, with a little trick
Use your middle or ring finger to press down the lens-mount release button, then you can qs focus with thumb & forefinger. I bet guitar players would have no problem with this maneuver.
