Telephoto Advice

Hi All:

I have been reading the reviews of the 70-300 lenses (nice thread). Here is my question, if I went with the newer Tamron 70-300 Di LD lens, would I be giving up any IQ in the 70-200 range when compared to the Pentax DA 50-200? I will not be using the 200-300 range all that often, but for basically the same price it would be nice. However, if I'm sacarficing quality in the lower ranges, I would rather go with the Pentax. What are your thoughts?

I haven't used the Tamron, but I suggest you try the FA 80-320mm- it's sharp and compact! It's only loses half a stop, too: 4.5-5.6.

just took delivery of the Tamron DI LD today, not bad... haven't had good light to see what it really can do though so waiting for a sunny day tomorow

what is very neat about it, is that it has a macro function which comes up with very good results (if you can hold it steady hehe), I'm not sure the Pentax has that too

It is very big, but I think that makes you look more professional to the non photographers

Just two pics I took today, not the most spectacular motives but that's all that's happening around here
