K100D (non-Super) + DA* 16-50 and DA* 50-135?

Hi folks,

After taking a lot of pictures, I've begun to realize that maybe it's time to upgrade some of my lenses to DA* lenses. I would love to have the color and sharpness they produce.

I'm well aware of the DA* 16-50 bad copies from the various posts. My question is a little different.

Recently, I tried out the DA* lenses one my K100D and found them to be... well, not very good. It could be a bad copy of the lens, but I'm wondering if having a non-Super K100D has anything to do with it not focusing all that well? I'm basically running the focus of these lenses on the screw drive built into my camera :P

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Both of mine work fine on my K10D, but that means I am using SDM to focus. They should focus just as well, but a bit more slowly and noisily on your K100D. If your test was with the 16-50, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that at f/2.8 your focus plane is pretty small.

Benjikan just retracted his threat to send back a 16-50 for focusing problems. He tried it again and it worked just fine. He thinks there was some film of something on the contacts that caused the camera indigestion. I've had no problems with mine at all.
