What is the best shooting setting to use with this older manual lens when used with my K10D? I don't want to use the auto green mode, and prefer manual...but what is best?

As its an A lens you can use any shooting mode with it including P-TTL flash. What shooting mode is best, is a matter of personal preference. In general P mode is good as a starting point, you can use Av mode if what aperture you shoot at is imprtant to you, or Tv mode if shutter speed is important to you. In K10D P mode is actually hyper manual mode, the camera suggests an initial setting for both shutter and aperture, and you can then change one or both to your preferences.

This is probably my favorite lens. Yes, it's big and heavy, but I love the sharpness, contrast, and the way it renders colors. The macro setting at 70mm is useful too. I normally shoot in Av mode when I use any of the Pentax-A lenses I have, but the A70-210 always gives perfect exposures. There's no reason for me to tinker with the EV settings at all. BTW, I'm shooting with a K100D
