Well, I took a chance on this being the right Jupiter-9 (and hopefully a good copy). I couldn't really go wrong at that price. Luckily, the seller is about 25 miles from me, so I may have it by Saturday. I was tempted to offer to pick it up!

Camera Lens Jupiter 9 & more w/case - eBay (item 140233090097 end time May-21-08 12:38:21 PDT)
I could be wrong but I think the lens you bought is in M39 mount.

Reading this forum sure hasn't helped mine.
I bought two Pentax lenses in the past two days!

i went on a huge binge early this month and so i think i'm cured... and i'm trying to sell my other lenses now.

my friend told me when i started that if i wanted to get into this to get the best i could afford, then you won't regret it later on and i definitely learned that. if you slowly trade up losing money on shipping, taxes, selling lower than the purchase price, you haven't really saved money by buying cheaper lenses.

I knew that a possibility, but what the heck. I can afford to be wrong at that price. If it's not M42, I can always send it back to ebay...

I recently bought a crappy 500/8 mirror as a mini-fix, but returned it. Still would be interested in something like the Sigma 600/5.6.

Decided a new 50-135 is in the far distant future, if at all (I'd like to see and hold one first).

Contemplating the 55-300 to replace both the Pentax 50-200 and Sigma 70-300.

Other than the Hartblei tilt-and-shift (for $1,000) not many other lenses interest me - for my shooting style.

You can use an adapter M39 to M42 and then attach it to you M42 to K mount adapter and use it.

With russian lenses there are two types of M39. One has a register distance same as Leica, the other type has register distance same as M42 which is the same as K mount, in your case I am pretty sure the lens is for the latter.
The lenses in this mount were made for Zenit S SLR system that was a hybrid between a rangefinder and SLR, actually this was the first russian SLR in history. Zenit released it 10 years before Leica released their Leicaflex SLR.

The SLR camera which Leica did not make:

I wish camera companies can make something similar looking but digital. Pentax, are you listening?

Cheers.

I think I have the bug. I have bought 4 lenses in the past week and a half. I find myself trolling Craigslist for old Pentax setups and buying the whole set up for just the lenses.

I found a way to stave off LBA for a little while..... send your camera out for repair and not have a backup body! I have been sans camera for three weeks and haven't gotten a lens since then. However I have added a TON of ebay listings on my watch list just to see others feed their LBA.....

It was worse than I thought.....it was a Kiev/Contax mount. Nothing I could do with that so I relisted and already sold it for a small profit. The other lens is a Jupiter 12 (35mm) with the same mount. Oh well, at least I didn't lose any $$$ on this one. If the Jupiter 12 sells, I'll end up making about 50 bucks. I can put that towards a M42 Jupiter-9 or 105mm Super Tak.
