Ok Mo, enough bragging about how big your lens is. Now lets see some pics 'with' it, not 'of' it...

Here you go: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/2324-tonto-national-forest.html

There's a link to the full gallery at the bottom- the first few pics are taken with the 500mm.

It's focal length is greater than that of most consumer telescopes, and it's faster, too.

If we had one of these, we could even use the lens as a 2500mm telescope:

After all, it's the eyepiece that yields the high magnification.

Also, the K-mount version (I have the K version, roy has the screwmount version) is called SMC Pentax 500mm F4.5. I picked mine up on KEH.

actually i have a K mount on mine even tho the lens says Takumar.
adam, does your cam lock into the mount??
also with the adapters for using it as a telescope, what would the magnification be?? if these were fefracter scopes they would cost a small fortune.

Hmm, you must have an earlier version, then. The only difference is the design of the focusing ring.

The magnification on that eyepiece is 5x, so you'd be looking at a 2500mm telescope
