Is there planned any new Prime Limited lens in short time?

The title says all.

There's a zoom on the roadmap, likely 6-12 months out.

Like Adam says there is a Limited zoom on the road map, but no new limited primes are listed there. Doesn't mean there won't be, just that nothing has been announced.

If there is it will probably be a full frame. I think they're afraid to announce any FF lenses until a FF camera is announced. So even those of us planning to remain APS-C shooters are largely left in the dark for now.

They certainly could use a current (FF capable) 24mm or wider prime - perhaps a bigger/faster * instead of a Ltd, however.

What do you think is missing? What focal length?

APS format:
DA15, DA21, DA35 macro, DA40, DA70. DFA100 macro (ok it's sort of a limited given the build quality.)
135 format:
FA31, FA43, FA77, DFA100 macro again.

As far as I can tell, the "rule" for the APS format limiteds is that it has to have a 49mm filter, so we can rule out faster wide angle lenses. I'm happy with this, because I can use one circular polariser with my 15, 35 and FA50. If and when I manage to get a DFA100, that's 49mm as well.

Not the OP, but I'd really really like to see an FA Limited 135/2.0 (note, FA - as I want to sidestep your APS-49mm-rule) or faster. Or a DA Limited 135/2.0, just to violate the rule. Either way, Pentax is doing quite nicely in the shorter end of the focal length spectrum, but the jump in primes from the 77mm FA Limited to the DA*200/2.8 is rather brutal.....

If or when Sigma and/or Samyang come out with their respective 135mm f/2-ish lenses it should fill that gap quite nicely. Probably more realistic than hoping Pentax releases a medium telephoto someday.

Hm, I dunno...Pentax has in the past released excellent 135mm lenses, I do not see why they could not relatively easily recycle one of their venerable optical designs, and add update it with AF, modern coatings, and the design trademark of the Limiteds or the seals/SDM motors of the DA*?

I'd hate to have to go Sigma - I've been distinctly disappointed in the past (although I'm given to understand that they've improved, I've had my fingers burnt...) - and I do not know Samyang so I wouldn't know if I could trust that brand, but I do know that I'd hate to be out a lot of $$$ to figure it out....

Sad, if no new primes. I think there is a place for a fast APS-C 24-28mm lens, preferably an affordable one. I have been searching and trying some used 21-28mm lenses. For general all-round use, traditional 35...40mm lens (135 film equivalent) is often the best.

There's the 35mm macro, which is only f/2.8 and is slightly over "50mm" fov (I own it, great lens). Then there's the 21mm limited, which is only f/3.2 and slightly too wide, maybe. Sigma has 20, 24 and 28mm f/1.8 lenses, which all have crappy corner sharpness. Same story with the 30mm f/1.4.

Now I have MF lenses, Cosina 24mm f/2.8 (otherwise very good, but no AF and slowish 2.8) and a rare Pentax SMC-M 28mm f/2.0. The latter is okay otherwise, but again lacks AF.

I have been trying to find a Pentax AF 24mm f/2 for a reasonable price, but no luck. And from the sample images I've seen, its corner sharpness isn't very good

Time for a new 24mm f2 lens!

If such prime should be produced, I guess it would be under the DA* series as it doesnŽt follow the "Limited" philosophy.

IŽd like to see, and I think it would make sense to have a complete DA* lens series:
DA*16 f/4
DA*24 f/2
DA*35 f/1.8
DA*135 f/2.8

Not that I could afford any of them!

I like the current three-way division of primes--DA, DA Ltd, and DA*. While we're wish-listing, I'd like to see the affordable DA line filled out to include a 24/2.8 and a 75/2.8. Carrrlangas has outlined an excellent expansion of the DA* line. The DA Ltd's are mostly filled out, IMHO, but if I were in charge I'd add a 28/2.8 and maybe a 50/2.

Not that I think the above is likely or sustainable, but since the OP was answered, I thought I'd indulge in a little day dreaming.

+1 on that, SMC Pentax-A* 135mm F1.8 for example.

The only lens that I'm missing the Pentax line up - limited or not - is something really very fast: ~ƒ1.2.
