Looks like you have got most of the points sorted.

I don't have the F or the DFA but don't forget about the FA-100 f2.8 either. I have one and its a wonderful lens for sure. The focus limiter and friction knobs are very useful. The focus limiter makes a bit difference to auto focus speed when not using the lens for macro work.

I had both of these lenses until a few days ago, I sold the F and kept the DFA-WR - but to be perfectly honest it wouldn't have mattered which one I sold - both have superb IQ, which is imo the single most important factor. The DFA-WR is lighter and Weather-Resistant, which makes it a better choice for outdoor "hikes", I haven't really noticed better Bokeh (from the rounded aperture blades) - but some might

both lenses have the same optical construction. So i guess the difference will be about form and/or feature.

If you see/handle the WR version you'll be wondering (like me) why it doesn't have 'Ltd' in its name!

The D FA WR does not have an aperture ring, so if that is important to you, you should go with one of the older macro lenses. It could come in handy if you want to use it with extension tubes. Otherwise, not too much negative to say about the DFA 100mm WR.

Aperture ring, quickshift, WR, focus limiter, and AF are the big differences. I read in some threads that the F version has very slow and noisy AF. Its hard to give advice on which of these to buy, but honestly, I doubt you will be disappointed by either one. Unless its missing a feature that you personally really need, like aperture ring (for old cameras, bellows) or WR (if you have WR camera, a WR lens is a good idea).

True, true! I believe it's only because LTD are not WR that they decided not to name it LTD.

They are both slow focusers. Honestly, the only thing you can do to speed up focus with a macro lens is to use a focus limiter. Or, I suppose you can use quick shift to get close and use the auto focus to fine-tune. But there is such a long focus throw that racking from one end to other just takes a long time.
