Tokina zoom ?

Is the Tokina 50 135 f2.8 a relative of the Pentax lens -

Pentax SMC-DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 ED [IF] SDM - Review / Test Report

as indicated in this review of the Pentax lens ?

I can find the Tokina listed as a Canon - Nikon lens but not a Pentax, and it's a lot dearer than the Pentax!
I just thought that a third party lens of a similar design might be a cheaper option?

I'm after a fast zoom for my K10 and this is one of the lenses that cropped up as I searched the options.
Is it worth considering, or should I move on to something else such as the Pentax or the offerings from - Sigma or the Tamron 70 200 f2.8

The Pentax DA* 50-135mm is definetly worth considering! It's also available NOW (as opposed to the mythical never-seen-before-by-human-eyes Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 )

Seriously, the DA* is a GREAT lens!

And I suppose it does have the weatherproofing advantage as well, which third party lenses don't have, and are unlikely to ever have ?

Some of Canon's "L" lenses are weather sealed.

The Pentax 50-135mm is sharper than some decent primes! Well worth the money!
