18-135 lens hood question.

Hello,
I am new to forum, my name is Adam aka Rojvol and I have a few questions. I am not 100% sure that my questions fit this very category but I will risk.

I have ordered Pentax k-30 with 18-135 lens and I think there is no lens hood included. But some people say that there is one.

(1) Is there lens hood in regular 18-135 kit?

Ok, so lets say, there is not any. Here in Czech Republic is almost impossible to find "Pentax Hood" so I was wondering if "universal" hood like this would fit.(2) Or does Pentax have some tricky mechanism to avoid third party hoods?

Slune?n

(sorry for czech language; only think written there is "62mm hood metal universal")

Thanks for all responses,
Adam

I don't know if it's in the box but Pentax charges a pretty penny for it. EBAY has cheap chinese copies of it:

Lens Hood for Pentax Ph RBC Da 18 55mm F3 5 5 6AL WR | eBay

PH-RBC62 is the Pentax part number.

I got the K-30 kit but. with the 18-55 and it came with a hood. I would imagine the kit with 18-135 would come with a hood.

Mine came with the hood. I had the same question before purchasing so I emailed B&H Photo. I bought mine from them.

Don't know about the K-30 kit, but my K-5 and 18-135 kit came with the hood, so I can't imagine the K-30 kit should be different.

No, that's the 18-55 lens hood. Won't fit the 18-135.

My bad. It turns out that ebay isn't selling any cheap copies. the 18-55 came up on my search.

Hood should be there. The third party hood should also fit. I use a rubber screw on with mine w
Hen I use a polarizer. I use the rubber hood as a handle to turn the polarizer.

Pentax does NOT package the 18-135 without a hood. Whoever you purchased from probably broke up kits and is selling the hood as a seperate item. If it was not disclosed that there was no hood in the advertisement then I would contact them and ask for one because a normal part was missing from what you received. Several shady dealers on Amazon have pulled that trick recently and contacting Amazon customer service fixed it for the buyers who have pisted here. Good luck.

I bought my K30 and 18-135 lens from separate vendors, so not as a kit. I didn't receive a lens hood with my lens, but the company that sold me the lens is supposed to be shipping me one of those Chinese replica hoods. Through email he told me -

"Let me tell you why we ordered these hoods. You can get this lens 2 ways. You can buy it in a retail box with the hood but then it will cost 500.00. we get them at a good price because we buy K30 body lens kits and sell them separately. That’s why no hood was included. If you click on the link above Its says no hood but buyers were not seeing it? So to keep up good relations and not to make anyone upset we bought a bunch just to have on the side."

Your seller is selling you a load IMHO. The lens comes with a hood in those kits.

I bought mine through an Amazon vendor, in the photo of the product it showed a hood, yet I received the lens without the hood. I complained to Amazon and they refunded 1/3 of the purchase price- $165.00 to my credit card. I still don't have a hood, I just can't justify spending $60 bucks on a piece of plastic. I'll probably end up buying a 3rd party knock-off. Any suggestions on the best one?
