loose focus ring=sdm issue

I just picked up a DA 17-70 and noticed that when I have the focal length out to 70mm, the focus doesn't always seem to lock right away... but if I put a bit of pressure on the focusing ring it seems to stop. doesn't do it all the time.
Is this a sdm issue or the focusing ring issue... nothing to worry about?
I would eventually sell the lens but not until I get to the bottom of the issue.
If all is worst, I would keep it myself instead selling as I don't sell lenses with issues.

This lens is fussy focusing from (roughly) 50-70mm.
