Sharpest aperture for 77mm??

Hey guys! This is my first photo with my 77mm Limited. Love at first click!

Shot at f4 - 1/400 - ISO 100

Even at f4 it appears to have an EXTREMELY thin DOF.

Now, to those of you out there that are more experienced with this lens, in your opinion, what is the sharpest aperture setting for this lens?

Thx!

-Chuck

It's at its best from around F4.5-F8. Btw, that's a nice pic- I wouldn't call the DOF extremely thin. It's nowhere near as bad as it would be at F1.8 or 1.4

I'm seeing f5.6 as the sharpest on an older post.

Using a Pentax camera, set your program line to MTF and Mr. Pentax will set the sharpest f/stop. Then look and remember. Easy.

+1. We always forget about MTF program line.

Also, I could guess that f/5.6 will be the sharpest setting for fast primes on APS-C.

I've learned more from this forum about photography than I have from anywhere else.

It depends if you are referring to center sharpness or borders. According to Photozone, the center is sharpest at F4 while the borders are better at F5.6.
