Where are the new lenses on the roadmap?

More than half year is gone by now, nothing from the 2013 or later lens has been released yet. I'm really interested to see the Q wide angle lens, DA limited zoom, DA* zoom and DA tele. Pentax sure is taking their sweet time...

A good optical designer is hard to find. And Pentax lost one,in 2010.

They are going to have to knock it out of the ballpark to beat the new Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 with that limited zoom. I personally would like to see a 135-400WR zoom, but I don't see that happenieng any time soon.

Who knows though, they may do like they did with the K50 and K500 and simply announce them without much advance notice.

The Sigma 18-35 weighs 810 grams. I'd expect the ltd. zoom to be much lighter--a different sort of animal.

Weight doesn't matter too much for me as long as I have speed and sharpness. Pentax needs fast glass without making us look for 10+ year old stuff.

It seems you're saying Pentax needs fast glass regardless of weight because that's what you need
I for one prefer light, small zooms and primes. I want to be able to take (most of) my lenses anywhere.

I would assume these lenses are candidates to be shown along with the top APS model rumored for September...

I could swear there was an 120~380 on the roadmap....

Well, Pentax already has an abundance of light small lenses to choose from. In schrill contrast to their amount of very fast lenses, which is tiny.

I agree with voiceofreason, Pentax needs a few more (very?) fast lenses, because that's what their line up lacks the most. Maybe even a new small special lensline, just to give it extra publicity.

I didn't deny Pentax needs fast lenses--frankly, I don't know what Pentax needs. I know what I need, and I'd certainly welcome more fast lenses, but not heavy fast lenses. A 24mm f2 or f2.8 will be tiny compared to the Sigma 18-35mm. (Anyone needs f1.8 at 18mm?)

That is my point exactly. We need fast lenses because there are plenty of the small and light ones already available.

I think they need some more representation in the telephoto department... something longer than the DA70, but less than the DA*200.

It would also be nice to see some of their older lenses get updated with silent focus mechanisms. The loud focus noise is the worst aspect of Pentax lenses by a longshot.

I would guess that Pentax is working on full frame lenses behind the scenes, but doesn't want to put them on the road map for fear of diminishing sales in current APS-C lenses/bodies. Putting a DFA 24-70 f2.8 zoom on the road map would be a dead give away as to their future plans, which so far are just unknown.
