Filter for 12-24

Is a slim or thin filter required for the Pentax 12-24 lens?

Thanks.

Edit - some of my original reply about the filter was wrong, and I removed it. Shrugs. I'll leave the rest about the hood, though...

I have the lens but don't use filters. You might have complications with the lens hood though. It is close coverage and vignettes at 12mm if it is not fully in place as this example shows.

D10D + DA 12-24 + "Moose" CPL Test image

I took this image in about the worst possible conditions. Minimum focal distance (so only the fridge was visible), Hoya "Moose" circular polarizer, 12 mm zoom, 1 m (minimum) focusing distance. Fridge with pictures, fluorescent (warm white) to the left, tungsten to the right. The "Moose" filter has an 81A built in. AWB. The fridge is white, BTW.

Yup, it vignettes. Hood on or off made no difference. I will have to test it outdoors at normal distances to see what happens there.
