FA 43 Silver

Just saw this on the B & H website. FA 43mm silver for $584.95.

Pentax smc FA 43mm f/1.9 Limited Series Autofocus Lens20170 B&H

Why so much cheaper than the black model? ($746.98)

Well, they paint them with a silver "Sharpie" pen so that's probably why.

I'm going to wildly guess that the $584 is the pre-MAP price?

Brutal Pentax Lens Price Increase: 15-90% - Pentax News - PentaxForums.com

Pentax has been doing "rebates" where they put the lens at pre-MAP prices occasionally so people will buy them.

I paid this price from Adorama a few months ago for the black version. My favorite lens.

B&H may not have it, but CR Kennedy in Oz do...https://www.crkennedy.com.au/pentax/index.php?q=node/357
And it's another 100 bucks cheaper if you buy it through CR Kennedy's ebay reseller, dcxpert: Pentax FA SMC 31mm F1 8 Limited ? Silver | eBay

I know but I was hoping it was below 1K, and it was a month ago when I bought the 77mm oh if only I have the money for both at that time. 1099 is still ridiculous if you ask me considering I have the 35mm f/1.4 -_-. I'm constantly watching the prices in the AU webstore specially now that AUD is low so it would be wise to buy locally so as to not incur the humongous shipping fee and the burden of forex and not to mention the customs tax.

Yeah..I too bought the 77 a month or two ago when the 31 was below a thousand. Problem is though that CRK raised their prices once they realised the dollar was on the decline. Unless it reaches close to parity again, I don't see the 31 falling below a grand any time soon.

That is a good price. I bought one recently for that same price, only mine was a couple months old. It was one of the latest lens and had Ricoh on the lens. It is flawless though and from what I understand the silver limited lenses are for international markets. Someone might be able to shed some light on that though. Such a sharp lens, with my K200d it shows much more details in portraits than I ever thought it would at 10 mp. With a K5 IIS this lens would be dangerous. I used to think I would like a 645d for my weddings and portrait work, but have decided to just get the K-5 IIs replacement and some great limited glass for my business.

Welcome to Pentax! You are going to LOVE this lens! Got mine (black version) before the prices went up. I've used it on my K10 and it is amazing. I can't wait to see what it does on my "new" K5!

I have the same question.
Silver version used to be more expensive for trio? Why now is different?
And I need to decide whether or not to accept the black version (a seller sold me a silver one, but now sold out, he wonder whether I would accept the black version or not).
Any opinion?

I was in Japan a couple of weeks ago, and they clearly had the FA 43 ltd, FA 77 ltd, and i believe the FA 31 ltd, all in silver. That was at Yodobashi camera in Shinjuku, which also attracts a lot of tourists, but it leads me to believe these aren't just for the international market.

The price on the FA 77 silver was equivalent to about US$830 (and almost $50 less than the black), and the FA 43 was on special for about US$565. I took a pic of all three, but what I think is the FA31 is obscured another lens.

Toukan- You have me there. I did not take into consideration what international means to other points of view. As an American, I was referring to the markets outside the U.S.. If you live outside the U.S., and you have silver lenses available then they would be available for your domestic market and not for international markets only. Technically, there is no product made for international markets, but products made to be delivered to certain markets throughout the world. Unfortunately for Pentax lens users, Silver FA lens haven't been intended for the American market for some time, but we still find ways to get them here. Some prefer black, but I like the silver if it's an actual metal like the Limiteds. I don't care for the silver plastic lens coverings of some lenses.
