@lytrytyr how's that review coming? I used to have a Spiratone 20mm/2.8 that was stolen (grrr), and am looking to replace it with the Pentax-A version.

I was also looking for A20 so that I can use it on film too but somehow couldn't justify the price. I then later bought Sigma 19mm for NEX which is brilliant but APS-C only and a few 24mm for using on film (and future FF). Very happy.

Quick feed-back on the question on price. I bought a F2.8 KA 20mm in Tokyo in March for 28300 yen, 236€ ended up to be the net price on my bank statement. Not really used it as I am rerely shooting wide angle and have a 21mm when travelling light.

Which 24mm did you end up going with?

I bought 4 so far, Sigma 24 Superwide II, Pentax M24-35/f3.5, Pentax A24/2.8 and Nikon 24/2 AIS. Best of the lot is Pentax M24-35/f3.5.

Wow. Really? The short zoom was the best? Pretty awesome. What'd you think of the A24ƒ/2.8? (I ended up going with that one… but I haven't scanned the negs yet.)

I recently posted a separate thread on my A24 experience in strong sunlight, not much pleased with it. Would love to hear your experience.

Regarding the rest of the lot, Sigma is a touch sharper and lovely lens. However, overall I liked 24-35 better for the daytime use due to nice colors and rendering. For night time, Nikon 24/2 is splendid, very usable wide open and quite handy, especially shooting architecture if there is no much depth to cover. This is a bad example but to give you an idea, shot at f2 ISO 1600

Thanks! That rise in sharpness after the aps-c edge dip is surprising; is that a trend with UWA lenses?

It's common to some extent, but rarely as extreme as in the A20/2.8,
with up to a 50% increase going from 15 to 18mm radius.

One just-so story for it is vignetting cutting off the bad rays.
