Sigma is announcing that you can now (on selected lenses*) have them convert all Sigma Global Vision lenses to your syste, whether it be Pentax, Sony, Canon, Nikon ...

and they will also offer a "new" extended warranty for 4 years in the USA.
(I believe that the Canadian warranty on some selected lenses will stay at 10 years though).

As it is mentioned: this is a paid service, regardless of the warranty type.

Anyway, this may come handy for those who buy one of the "selected" lenses and decide later on to switch system and still be able to use it on their new gear after Sigma converts the lens(es).

Note: I have no financial reason to post this ... just for the information which I thought was very interesting.

Interesting. Thought we might finally have a path to the 120-300 lens, but they will only convert a lens to a mount that is already offered for that lens, according to the faq´s anyway. Bummer.

In a way, yes that sucks !

Out of the qualifying lenses mentioned, only these will be available for the conversion then:

17-70
35/1.4
18-35/1.8 (if that is available ... I can't really find the confirmation anywhere except for a recent thread which is still doubtful).

Edit: also found that: http://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/product/art/a_18_35_18/specifications.html and that was indeed posted earlier in another PF thread; so I would think it is available.

The quarantee conditions wary depending on the market. Here a 5 year guarantee has been provided by the distributor since 2012 or so. I like the things Sigma is doing. If they continue like this, they are about to become a serious player in the market!
I just wish all their lenses would be available in K-mount.

this service is only applicable when the lens is already available in the lens mount it is being converted to.
