On ebay I bought one of these 21 SMC-A * 300mm 4.0. The joy was great when the parcel was delivered this morning. When I held the lens in the hands, the disappointment and the anger was great.

Enclosed is a photo of the front glass

I hope you get a refund.
Did you try to enclose a link? How come 1 of 21?
I wouldn't mind this lens either. Lost out twice already in fact.

If you cannot send it back, a solution would be to cover the scratches with black paint, or with a fine permanent marker. This way you will have no loss in image quality, cause the scratches are small, and covered in black will generate very little difraction.

It's a very good lens. The m\small imperfections, scratches, should not affect the overall performance of this excellent lens.

Regards

If it takes good photos and doesn't have fungus, then patch it up like JimmyDranox said. But first complain to the seller and try to get a partial refund, or send it back.

Your photograph of the damage is good evidence, so you have a strong case.

I doubt those wee scratches will effect that fine lenses performance at all.

But they should have been mentioned by the seller.

I suggest you do it the most simple way and open a case at eBay. You ought to get a partial refund
