I am with you. I have this rare glass and am desperately seeking the CPL with drop in holder as pictured above. Can anyone help?

I finally got one here from PF marketplace this spring. Bought it from kindakaa, but just a bit later there was another one sold by goubejp (https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/36-sold-items/295562-sale-sold-very-rare-...arizer-fa.html) that was a bit cheaper that what I paid :-(...

These are the only ones I saw since I am checking, the other ones I saw were sold with an existing lens and sellers would not want to sell separately...

If I see anything I'll let you know... Good luck in you searches, you have to be quick on the trigger when you see one!

Yes, but it's not just the filter. It's also the rotating mechanism fitted to a new holder that replaces the existing holder. I think the Amazon image is incorrect. Here's the forum's image.
Yes, that's my CPL.

Even though it's a heavier lens, it has stunning image quality, even wide open. To the OP (even though this thread is old(er), how do you like the lens?

Cheers,
Marc

There was a thread I can't find now, perhaps by user imtheguy, about a lens, perhaps an A*400mm, with sharpness issues. I believe he was using it without the internal filter and when one was installed there was a noticeable improvement.
Yep, in the 300mm+ Lens Club 2 or 3 years ago. The lens was A*400/2.8.

Unfortunately the link isn't online any more. Can you please tell where your manual is currently available?

There's a Contact tab on Stig Vidar "the Stig"s homepage, try to ask him there. The page was updated recently. He is a very positive guy.

Thanks, but I finally found and bought one a couple years ago from a fellow pentaxian here in the MarketPlace...

I do not use it often, but it help when shooting near water or on bright sun... I just need to remove it after usage, because I tend to forget about it when I use the lens in another day... not always suitable to lose near 1 stop in certain conditions!

I can speak only on the drop in filter on a SMC A*400 mounted on my K-3II, manual focus, removing the filter changed the focus adjustment but not the image quality after I re-focus. Auto focus may be different. I did this last week on some moon shots just to test, I will test again in good light and at different distances and test with the AF 1.7 adaptor. Normally I leave a uv filter in place to help keep dust out of the lens! I do have a circular polarizer but must manually adjust the setting as I do not have the thumbwheel holder.
