M 85mm f/2.0 (LBA)

Well, I went looking at the A 35-105mm f/3.5 lens and saw this nice little guy sitting beside it so I grabbed it instead, I think I made the right choice

The M 85mm f/2.0

Congratulation!
This is a very nice and useful lens.

It is quite rare in that it makes blue "purple fringing":

I like blue better anyway ...though the wife likes purple she won't be using the lens anyway

how much and where'd you get it?
M lenses IMO are the coolest looking range of lenses (Limiteds excluded)

Kerrisdale Camera in Vancouver, BC, is was $299 and doesn't have a mark on it anywhere. And yes, in terms of looks I agree with you

.

Congrats!

I have a mint copy of one of these, and before I got my 77ltd it was my favorite lens. It's one of those incredible finds, I got lucky and stumbled on mine also.

I'm leaning towards selling mine now that I have the 77, if I don't talk myself out of it again...

Looks like a nice lens. I remember checking this one out on pbase, not a lot of photos with it but a sizeable portion of the ones that are on there seem to consist of people's feet/shoes!

I have the M-85mm f2 as well as the A 35-105mm f3.5. They're probably my most used lenses right now. I don't think you could have gone wrong regardless of which lens you chose. It's more a matter of what you want. The 85 is small and fast. The 35-105 is more versatile, but it comes at the cost of size, weight, and speed.

How is the K85/1.8 compared to the M85/2.0 version of the 85mm lens?
I recently bought the K version! I waiting for it to arrive!?

Here are the reviews on the K 85mm f1.8 on this site. Sounds like it is one of the better ones if you ask me. I recently acquired a Super Takumar 85mm f1.9, and have been having a lot of fun with it. Though I believe it is optically different then the newer f1.8's.

These photos are really nice looking. It seems that this is a great lens itself as well.

I love CA from pentax lenses
