Used lens shops

Besides KEH, which is awesome by the way, where do you recommend for used manual lenses?

I've been lucky with ebay finding "like new" used lenses. You just have to read the details and check the sellers feedback, location, etc. I probably pay a little more for the lenses then they are worth, but I have a 100m, 135mm and 200mm that look brand new. I try to find ones that still have the original case and caps if possible. It seems to me that if the lens has the case it came in, then maybe it's been stored and cared for during it's life. I'm sure there are as many horror stories of lenses bought off ebay too. I've just been lucky I guess. Happy hunting!

check Adorama out, they have the K (bayonet) mount and the m42/screw (universal) mount. And lots of different camera manufacturers if you need some for other mounts.

I have also gotten some good lenses from Craigslist. My question is can anyone provide the names and locations of any good used equipment shops in the Tokyo area?

ebay and Craigslist. I've bought some sweet lenses from both sources, but it's like anything, a little effort goes a long way. I would check in daily (in some cases) and a little luck helps too.

Pre Owned?

Hello jcdoss,
A good place for used Pentax gear is right here! Check the marketplace for deals.
I'll add + 1 for eBay, if you follow a few common-sense guidelines. Only buy from reputable sellers, make sure there's are plenty of good photos, including the 'see-through' view (straight through the glass with the aperture wide open) and make sure they have a return policy.
It also helps to check the seller's other listings. Sometimes you'll find that it's mainly photography gear, meaning they probably know what they're doing.
Of course, it's nice to find a local deal, Craig's or the classified, but you'll have a much wider selection with the major traders or eBay.

I've purchased from Ffordes Photographic a couple of times. Even though I'm in Canada and they're in Scotland it's worked out well for me. Their shipping is much more reasonable than KEH and the prices comparable.

Check Craigslist on the daily. Landed myself a FA 50/1.4 for $100 recently using Kijiji (eBay Classifieds Canada, basically the Canadian Craigslist, without the personals)

1+ for Adorama. I have bought from them a couple of times. As with KEH, caps, cases, and hoods have to be bought separately.

Usually KEH includes the caps and hood, if they received them with the lens. The listing will clearly state what is included.

+1 for KEH. I buy locally from B&H and have done mail order once from Adorams; but I have noticed B&H and Adorama seem to be less reliable on their pricing. e.g., B&H has 135mm f/2.5 takumar (K mount) for something like$ 350. (vs a fair price of $40 maybe) as I recall. On the other hand I got a pentax 85-210 f/3.5 K mount (i think its 85-210mm--anyway the very rare early zoom) from Adorama for a ridiculously low price (although the condition was not as good as the rating suggested). So I am a little hesitant to use them for mail order--although I did so for the Adorama's zoom mentioned above.

I'm trying out a Japanese shop called Sunrise Camera. They have great feedback on ebay, so I figured I'd give their web shop a try. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

I've purchased both new and used lenses from MAP Camera in Tokyo. I would recommend stopping in if you're in the Shinjuku area.
