Will this hood fit the Pentax 18-55mm WR version? I have a friend who needs one for his WR lens he got with his K30. He says there is no hood in the box so he asked me if the one I have would fit his, will it? I have two because looking in the box. inside was the hood and I bought one last summer not knowing I already had one.

I don't think so. The 18-55 WR had a different hood.

The 18-55 II used the hood PH-RBA.

The 18-55 WR uses the hood PH-RBC.

You can get a knock off RBC from Hong Kong for about $10. The knock off RBA is only $3...

Cant you just try it? If it fits the hood bayonet.. its good.

The RBA will not fit the WR at all. I tried. For whatever reason Pentax completely changed the hood bayonet on the WR.

My friend lives in Virginia and I live in Florida, kind of hard to just try it.

If it is the WR, the lens should have come with a hood. I would contact the seller.

He bought the camera new with the kit lens. I'm not sure this is the way things are when sold with kit lens. It could be he missed the hood as I did when I bought mine, used from Adorama. I'll ask him if he calls me tonight if he checked the box the lens came in.
