Why doesn't somebody at Pentax marketing listen to me, don't they know that the thing I want is more important than all the crazy stuff everyone else wants? Wh cares if it's 16mm or 18mm or f1.8 vs f2, as long as there's a pony in the box. And a bigger box.

Sarcasm, my favorite.
Sorry, but they can't be giving ponies to anyone who would beat a dead horse. LOL

Here is Sigma statement on availability and weather sealing:
QuoteQuote:
Hello Josef,
The Pentax version of the lens won’t be out until next year but it will have the same build quality as the Canon and Nikon versions. The lens is sealed for dirt and moisture but not waterproof, it lacks the required “Check Valve” needed for air enter and escape while in use.

Huh? I don't think I want my weather sealed lenses to have a check valve to let air enter the lens (along with the water!). Sounds like he doesn't know what he's talking about to be honest.

More than likely he meant the check valve to allow air to escape when zooming, without allowing water to be sucked in through other direction.

Thanks for the "review" This lens is HUGE. Very nice for event work if you're an APSC shooter though.

I wish we knew "when" next year. In time for Valentine's day or Christmas 2014?

So... if I reversed this lens on my DA*50-135, it'd be handy for some extreme macro stuff?

Maybe not handheld, mind

Has anyone been about to get this lens in K mount yet? I checked B&H about a week ago and they still have it listed as pre-order. A local (FI) electronics store lists it as 3-6 weeks availability, but that really doesn't tell me when it will actually be available, it's been that way for a couple months now. Of course they have both Canon and Nikon versions in stock... grrr.

Some other forum posters have heard April/May from emails to Sigma, but that date has been pushed back a few times already.

The 30 Art f/1.4 has been spotted for order, so that is a good sign. It's strange that that lens was announced much later than this one yet has appeared first.

Amazon is temporarily out of stock of the Nikon and Sony mounts. Perhaps Sigma is having trouble supplying these? B&H has plenty in stock, but they probably kept higher stock from the beginning.
