The end of my LBA?

I know I don't hold a candle to many of you out there - you know who you are, with dozens and dozens of lenses, always scouring the forums and eBay for more - but I've sort of plateaued in my lens buying. I'm super happy with what I have now. Really, there are only a few things out there that still interest me:

- FA 31mm (of course)
- 50mm 1.2 ('natch)
- FA 43mm (see above)
- 40mm Ultron (which would complete my set of Voigtlander SLII lenses)

I guess I'd like a decent, long telephoto but would rarely use it. My 135mm pretty much meets my needs there. It'd be cool to have a mid- to wide AF zoom (fast) but I'm not really hankering for it. I shoot more and more film lately so FF is a must.

I'll probably try to pick up an Ultron in the next few months before they go away (like other Voigtlanders have), but really I'm good with what I've got. The 31, 43, and 50 1.2 are always something I'll pine after; we'll see if I ever feel the need (or feel flush enough) to pull the trigger.

Anyone else in this boat? Do you have a short list of "what's left"?

The ones I would like are the new Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 when it comes out, a Pentax 60-250 f/4, and the Pentax FA* 250-600 f/5.6 of announced or existing lenses. So far I've not really gotten bitten by the prime bug because of what I do. I will likely want other lenses in the future as they are announced or released, but where I am right now those are the ones I want, yet only the first is within budget by year's end.

Both budget and time are quite constricted right now, but beyond that I'm quite satisfied with what I have. I've never felt a need for sub-2.8 apertures for what I do, so that saves effort and cash

. I too don't shoot enough tele, not even to justify the 55-300 I once owned!

Once funds loosen up I expect/fear that it will come rushing back to me though..

we shall see.

All the SL II's huh? Clearly you now need a new lens collecting hobby.

If you stop, you'll make the rest of us with LBA/GAS feel worse.

Have you ever tried a Yashica m42 lens? They're fantastic. You should collect them all...

I've been selling lately myself. I am looking forward to real users impressions of the upcoming 18-35 though. Other than that I am occassionally tempted by a fast long lens but them reality sets in

Here's what I have:
K 15mm 3.5
M 28mm 2.0
K 28mm 3.5 Shift
FA 31mm 1.8 Limited
DA XS 40mm 2.8
K 50mm 1.2
K 85mm 1.8
K 135 2.5
K 200 2.5

I'm in the process of buying and converting a Nikkor Ai S 105 1.8 to Pentax but really wanted the Takumar 100mm 2.0, Zeiss Macro Planar 100mm 2.0, or the D FA 100mm 2.8 Macro (if it had an aperture ring).

All in all, though, I'm pretty happy with my set so far.

Here's what I want (or at least want to try):

K 28 2.0 (to complete my K set)
M 35 1.4 (though I could never justify using it)
DA 40 2.8 Limited
A* 85 1.4
A* 135 1.8
A* 200 4.0 Macro

I have a short list of current lenses that I'd like at some point, including the FA limiteds. But then I think that anything older and out of production is fair game, given the price. Anything under $50 for a highly regarded lens is something I'd get almost without thinking. Then into the $100 range for something really rare. The compatibility of the older lenses is part of the fun.

I think that I could be quite happy with one more lens that's a little longer than my f135 (for kids' sports and the like) e.g., da* 200 or a fast 70-200, and a small, widish compact like the Ricoh GR. Someday I may decide that I "need" a macro, but not yet.

If you shoot different things than you normally do, you will want different lenses.

I have the Voigt 40/2 SL II N version for my Nikon system. Fantastic little lens. It's kind of like the limited, comes with small metal hood. Very sharp wide open. I dont think they made the SL II N version for K mount, but it's the same optics.

I've not used DA40, but I've used Canon EF 40/2.8 pancake. The Voigtlander blows canon out of the water at 2.8. I think if you tend to use the 40 at wide apertures, Voigt 40 is a nice upgrade.
