My DA* 16-50 needs to send into CRIS for a repair.
But before I send it in, I would like to check with you how much you paid for the repair (any repair).

My copy has some play in the zoom tube (<1mm), and sometime it is off and cannot focus to infinity.
I guess some parts need to be replaced to get it back in shape. SDM had never been an issue.

"My DA*16-50 is currently at CRIS for SDM replacement.
The repair bill = $195 [includes return shipping & 6 mo. warranty]
The SDM motor is being replaced. Which makes sense, since CRIS is going to warranty it for 6 months.

I sent the lens in on July 12th, so it has been gone just over 4 weeks so far.
I got the repair invoice on July 25. The CRIS repair includes a 6 month service warranty.
update 8/18: CRIS just charged my CC, so that means the repair is finished and the lens is on it's way home.
update 8/19: The lens arrived last night. It performs just like new. Auto-Focus is performing flawlessly again. Cudos CRIS!"

Mine is in the shop now. Waiting on parts that are on back order from Pentax. It has been there two months with no indication of when parts will be in. $220

2 years ago I sent mine in for SDM repair - the gears were worn out after 4 years usage. That was the second time I had a problem so I sent an e-mail explaining this and received the OK for a 50% off repair which ended up being $200.
You have to shove your way into this kind of situation with Pentax, I guess?

my copy had taken thousands of photos. Cosmetically it is still nice, but i think it needs a service
200usd sounds not too bad.
