on the serie of picture with the golden cup and glass with a big red "f2" on the right side, you'll notice that the focus is, in fact, done on the front border of the cup, and not on the glass itself.

And if you look closely the wood of the table, the detail are clear, and the border of the cup, is quite sharp too.

For me it's more about miss focus than not sharp.

I'm thinking of getting one in a month or two, after i've paid all those aweful taxes, bills, and stuff. I'll do some test

I just love how saturated the colours are before post processing. It kinda reminds me of some of the VERY expensive brand lenses. guess which brand! It has that look and feel to richness in terms of colour rendering. ofcourse the sharpness is not there.

the 85mm

Manual Lenses Malaysia : Mitakon 85mm f2.0 ( Hybrid Technology )

and their 135mm f2.8 version use the coating I think.

Essential Studio Equipment : Mitakon 135mm f2.8 ( Hybrid Technology )

From the photos on flickr, Miktaon 85mm f2 version I, is just too different and just not good.
I myself have ordered a pair.

I got my two lenses, the 85mm f2.0 and the 135mm f2.8 yesterday. The 85mm is only usable when it's stopped down to f2.8 or smaller. At f2.0 a lot of CA, fringing, blooming and extremely soft, no matter what the focal distance is. Even at f2.8 purple fringing is till visible. At f3.5 everything get sharper and it's extremely good. Also the 135m f2.8 is usable at f2.8 with the exception of purple fringing, it sort of disappears once it's stopped down to again f3.5. I would like to point out that the colour rendition is excellent. In my opinion the colours are much much better than the early Pentax SMC lenses. I am not sure if people want to spend nearly $200 to shoot with lenses at f3.5 just for a set of different colours.

Thanks for your comments. I was hoping the 85mm was usable wide open... Could you post some samples with that settings? In sun light and with artificial lighting? Thanks

Im still waiting for my Jupiter-9 85/2 so i can compare it with the Mitakon. Bought it in a New/Unused Condition to have a strong comparison. I will of course post some images after the tests..

Now that should prove interesting. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

It is razor sharp if it's stopped down to F3.5. However, it is pretty much unusable for my taste wide open at F2 or F2.8. I would say this lens has the same colour rendition as their 35MM F0.95 for the NEX.

Might as well get a (relatively) inexpensive Rokinon 85mm f/1.4.

This lens is probably the ultimate in copy variation, with the dubious bonus of being far less returnable so we'll see winners and losers.
Still looks interesting for the price, but not for me right now. Hopefully in six months or so?

True, the Rokinon looks much bulkier but similar overall weight I believe.
