What ended my LBA...

Hi there guys,

Its been a while since my last post...
Just want to share something about my so called LBA...

What i actually do is just buy a lens i want, try it for sometime and then sell it afterwards (mostly cheaper price than what i paid for it so meaning im not really after the buy and sell thing)...

This is also the reason why i had tried a lot of lenses (mostly manuals)...
Anyway here's what happened...before i just keep on looking at this website everyday and if i like a lens then i would go for it...So what stopped my LBA? Just these 3 lenses that i currently own...
First i got my a S-M-C 50 1.4 then a M 100 2.8 and lastly the K 28 3.5... and that's all it just stopped there...
Don't get me wrong, yes i still look at this website at least 3x a week but hell yeah i dont have the urge to buy anymore...

A friend lend me a K85 1.8, Helios 40-2 and meyer optik 29 2.8... didn't like them... i dont know i just stopped and im soo glad it did...

Anybody here with the same story? (another lens of course)

Indeed. I am very happy with the lenses I have....

....then I see a mint FA*85, and a nice FA*80-200. And then there's the up-coming Sigma 18-35/1.8
There is no cure.

Right now I have M50 1.4, M50 1.7 and M28 2.8 for my K1000SE.
There LBA is not really affecting me, because I hardly use the K1000SE, and if I find the time to do so, those lenses are enough for now.

On the digital side, I recently delivered a deathblow to LBA: Ricoh GR.

The da*55 cured my 50s range for the perfect portrait lens. It is exactly that. The tamron 70-200 2.8 had me a long time ago and it is the only lens that I have not switched up several times. I'm still not completely sold on the Tamron 17-50 (which is still great). That is the lens that keeps me looking at the Sigma 30 1.4 (which I sold to help pay for the 55) and the Rokinon 35 1.4. I dare not venture into the limited otherwise I will stir my settled LBA.

What cured my LBA (so far) is having a balanced kit that perfectly suits my needs. I am currently considering (gasp) selling a lens. As much as I love the DA21, I'm not using it much these days, so I'm pondering selling it. But there's no rush.

I made a rule for myself never to keep duplicate purpose lenses. That way I can keep my LBA in check and slowly build my kit to the point where I'm perfectly satisfied with it.

When no one would buy a pristine camera that Eric CLA'ed, at any price, for any reason, at a price less than the cost of the CLA alone (the camera is thus free), I started to worry. When no one would buy a pristine K lens I owned and offered for 30% off the average eBay Completed Listings price - not even a low-ball PM - nothing!! - then I really became concerned.

Then my constant protestations that I would simply sell this hoarded collection of old brass and glass some day in the future had come home to roost.

That ended my LBA / CBA.

Hmmmm, are you suggesting that every time one gets the urge to buy another lens, one should rather go and make a baby...

What has ended mine for the moment would be I own more lenses than I can carry...some part of me says, if I don't take it out of the case, I don't need it. Right now, The 18-135, Sigma 8-16, DA* 60-250 and A-400 are going everywhere with me, with the Sigma 70 and 21 ltd as occasional fill ins or add ons.

My FA 50 1.8, DA 35 2.4, are just waiting for the full frame... I just don't find them that useful for APS-c. The 18-135 is excellent from 22 to 50, it's not often I need a fast lens. Also gathering dust, my DA 10-17, although I'm starting to realize that using the 8-16, even though it keeps the line straight, you're trading one type of distortion for another, and the 10-17 is a lot more fun. I can't really take anther lens, unless I leave something home, unless I start going for pancakes. The 40 XS is great for that.
